A Feature is a collection of SharePoint objects, such as a Web Part or Event Handler, that are activated within SharePoint as the Site or Web level. See Scope for details on levels of Scope. Features contain custom code to manipulate or display the SharePoint items in ways not available OOTB in SharePoint.
